My Letter to Viacom


Dear VIACOM I would like to know what happened to the cognition's of my child hood on MTV. The Rock N Roll, the heavy metal the country the Gospel blues type stuff I first heard when MTV was starting as a young man. Today I live in an area where because of MTV's mass populace with the children. The new batch of children no longer go to country road houses or rock n roll bars. As they all go to disco's. This is not because of a vacuumed trend creation. It is because MTV for the last ten years I believe has slowly just become BET TV's second entity. Where it seems that BET is trying to make its own channel cool for all other cultures. While MTV no longer represents the Rock N Roll, Heavy Metal, or Country. This is a major issue. As trends are created by coolness and late night kids watching tv and seeing things on tv. When I was a kid. I grew up with Suicidal Tendencies, Motley Crew, and a myriad of rock bands on MTV constantly. Where as today I watch MTV all day any of them and it is pure rap or pure BET entertainment. No offense to the African community but still in this community is the majority a root system of Europeans who grew up liking rock n country and heavy metal. Now MTV is raising our children to like rap and I can't stand the stuff personally. As it is not really music it is just a program that takes old beats and creates new.

I was just hoping that MTV could re connect with the European populace. Who they have lost connection to with Rock N Roll, heavy metal. With an equatable amount of air time for all cultures in the major show.
